Kate Sellers is a multi-disciplinary creative and the founder of K.S. Creative Pottery, a boutique pottery studio set in the idyllic Kent countryside. With a background as a prop stylist and set designer, Kate’s artistic journey has been shaped by her love for creating and her keen eye for detail. She turned to pottery as a way to slow down, reconnect with hands-on making, and bring her vision for timeless, meaningful homeware to life.
Kate’s passion for ceramics was sparked during her annual trips to Sicily, where she developed a deep appreciation for the region’s rich artistic heritage. This influence is evident in her use of bold colours, playful forms, and her focus on creating pieces that feel warm and inviting.
During the 2020 lockdown, Kate set up a pottery wheel in her garden shed, where she began crafting her now-iconic “Isolation Faces” collection. These whimsical designs, intended to bring a smile during challenging times, quickly became a favourite and established her reputation as a maker of joyful, characterful ceramics.
Kate’s current collections, such as the Duci Stripe range, are made from Staffordshire White stoneware clay and finished with hand-painted coloured slips. Her work celebrates the beauty of imperfection, intentionally preserving the marks of the maker’s hand, creating objects that feel deeply personal and designed to be cherished for generations.
Kate Sellers’ pottery has earned recognition as “cult tableware,” with her distinctive face plates and other designs stocked by renowned retailers such as Liberty. Through K.S. Creative Pottery, Kate continues to create items that elevate the everyday into something extraordinary.
