Ruth Wilde

Ruth Wilde is a ceramic artist who makes homeware for sensitive souls. Her work is playful, romantic and nostalgic. The pieces she creates use colour, pattern and text to resonate with those who use them. She works from her studio in Sheffield.

B. 1989, Ruth studied Fine Art at university, graduating in 2012. After working various technical jobs, she started a ceramics night class at her local college and found a medium that was well suited to her use of text and pattern.

Following the summer of 2020, her work became more functional, shifting into homeware where she spent long days in her home studio, developing her style of playful, sentimental pots.

Her work is inspired by poetic observations, overheard sentences, remembered song lyrics and quotes from books. These words are written down alongside delicately naive illustrations and patterns which seek to resonate and connect with others.

Ruth designs, makes and releases various collections on her website throughout the year, with many pieces being unique items. She also makes commission work, and has worked on custom pieces for interior designers, weddings and other precious life moments.

Over the years, Ruth has taken part in makers markets where she connects with her customers in person. Her work has been sold in various shops and galleries in the UK including Selfridges and many more internationally.

Ruth’s work has been featured in numerous publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, Grazia, House Beautiful and Country Living.
