Lora Avedian

Lora Avedian’s work translates her playful drawings into textiles, and paper collage. Lora's inspiration is drawn from nature and her love of historical costume. She uses traditional embroidery and embellishment techniques to make modern artefacts. She favours hand made traditional processes, focusing on limited edition and bespoke projects.

Lora Avedian is a London based multidisciplinary artist, and author who graduated with a Masters in Mixed Media Textiles from the Royal College of Art in 2017.

Lora’s practice focuses on embroidery, which she uses to translate her playful drawings into textiles for interior and fashion, as well as creating paper collage and ornaments. Lora’s inspiration is drawn from nature and her love of historical costume. She uses traditional embroidery and embellishment techniques to make modern artefacts. She favours hand made traditional processes, focusing on limited edition and bespoke projects.

Lora has produced limited edition products such as cushions and scarves for the interiors and fashion world. Through collaborations with companies such as the V&A shop, Barbican Centre shop, The New Craftsmen, Fortnum & Mason, Edible Treasures, and The Garden Museum in London.

Lora wrote a how-to embroidery book Stitch in Bloom in 2021, published with Hardie Grant. She has showcased her work at London Craft Week with Howe 36 Bourne st in 2018, and Smythson of Bond st in 2022.

Lora runs in person and online workshops that are from a few hours to one week long. For clients such as The Royal Academy, Barbican Centre, Grosvenor Group Ltd, Calico Club, Blackheath Embroiderers Guild, and Selvedge Magazine. She is a visiting lecturer at London College of Fashion on the Embroidery BA and has given talks and workshops at universities across the UK.
