Tabby Booth is an artist, creator and curator based in Cornwall. Her work combines bold textured paintings with illustrative prints and homewares, inspired by animals, mysticism, folklore and the sea.
Having studied illustration at Central Saint Martins, Tabby Booth went on to found the Nationwide franchise Cygnets Art School in 2015, as well as Sailors Jail Gallery in 2023. Her work treads an interesting parallel path between illustration and raw, traditional painting. A fascination with folk and outsider art, combined with a passion for interiors, results in bold yet playful imagery. Designed, as Tabby says, for the walls of bold and playful people.
“I started painting again when we decorated our first property. I couldn’t find the artwork that I was picturing in my mind for our walls, so I created it instead."
“The best things in life are about contrast, and for me, nothing looks better on a wall than that rich, bold silhouette. It works in any size, on any colour, and just as well on its own as combined with other styles and textures. It has the power to transform the character of a space. I love to play around with the juxtaposition of something that looks like an ancient relic, yet with a naive and whimsical element that doesn’t take itself too seriously.”
