Hum London is a lighting brand founded by sisters Ellie and Hermione Gee, specialising in hand painted lampshades and limited edition designs made from vintage textiles, which are all handcrafted in the UK.
Founded in 2020, the London-based studio is passionate about creating beautiful, vibe-enhancing lighting with great quality and mindful production at its heart.
Hum’s core collection of painted lampshades features warm colours and a range of designs, from delicate gemstones and bold stripes, to our Celestial lampshades – with ethereal illustrations painted in a deep midnight blue and hand-punched holes that gently glow when the shade is illuminated, creating a subtle twinkling in the room.
We also offer a bespoke designs service, which can be anything from painting lampshades in alternative colours to entirely new designs.
With a shared love of antiques and giving new life to old treasures, last year marked a new chapter for the brand – designing limited edition lampshades made from antique and vintage fabrics. The first in this series, the Prairie Lampshades, are crafted from hand embroidered textiles dating back to the 18th century. This collection received the Innovation Award from English Home Magazine for the soft, dappled light that gets cast into a room.
We’re proud to work with some of the best lampshade makers in the country who’ve spent decades mastering their craft. Our lampshades are suitable for a variety of fittings, from wall lights and lamps to pendants, and can be commissioned in custom shapes and sizes.
